GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of heavy- and medium-duty all-electric vehicles, including models with lower and high floors. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it can be customized to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's design is based on a simple sheet of paper, which allows for optimum placement of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This leads to better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 have a single interior wall structure and higher insulation than traditional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. go green mobility scooters have a longer life span. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and an industry leading payload to range ratio for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block wind and road noise while driving along the highway. It rides smoothly over ruts and humps. The acceleration is quite quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully charged in about three hours at home, or using any commercial charger. The driver can choose from two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase the torque, cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are fun to drive and provide an experience unlike any other for those who haven't driven an electrical vehicle before.
GreenPower offers a variety of other electric vehicles that include a multi-purpose all-electric minibus dubbed the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, microtransit or transit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces about 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA conforming.
